Fees

Like most law firms, we operate a computerized time recording system.
All the time we spend on your behalf is recorded, whether talking to you on the telephone, preparing letters or documents, considering correspondence we receive, undertaking research on a point of law or traveling to and attending meetings, Court hearings, etc. outside our offices.

The time expended is multiplied by the hourly rate of the person handling the matter for you to arrive at our professional fee.

Our normal charging rate is 125 € per hour.

This rate covers the professional services of the lawyer handling your affairs and reflect their experience, specialist skills and qualifications.

This hourly rate does not include the costs of postage, telephone calls, faxes and e-mail. We add to our professional fees the actual amount of any direct costs and out-of-pocket expenses incurred, such as court and bailiff's costs.

No VAT is due on our professional fees.

We are always ready to give estimates of charges, where possible, and to provide details of how much expense has been incurred at any stage of our work for you.

For certain types of work our experience of dealing with similar work enables us to give a firm quotation for the amount you will be asked to pay. For other types of work, such as court cases, where it is very difficult — or even impossible — to predict how much work will be involved.

We attempt to be flexible in our charging approach and are happy to consider with you a variety of alternatives to the traditional hourly rate. Depending on your situation and any agreement reached between us, there are a variety of fee structures available.

These include Fixed Fees and . A No Win No Fee agreement is prohibited under Belgian legislation.

In certain instances, you may have some form of insurance cover in place to cover your legal costs. You will need to advise us of any Policies you hold so that we can assess whether you are eligible for Legal Expenses cover. If so, we can assist you in submitting your claim.
